Shout Out Time

I would like to give a shout out to Shalako Gordon, a young filmmaker who recently hosted a screening for his short film "The Truth About Lies". I walked into the screening as a movie snob, showing support to an old friend. However, I walked out of the screening as a very impressed movie snob, galvanized by the talent of a creative, up and coming filmmaker. The Truth About Lies is well written, well cast, and extremely well produced. After seeing the quality of production in this short, and the talented cast, it made me wonder, how does Hollywood get away with releasing such movies as, "Trash of The Titans" Gigli, or...any Tyler Perry movie. I was inspired and extremely proud of Shalako's skill and vision, especially with both of us being former NBC Pages, a position where the only talent on display... is the lack of wrinkles in one's blue uniform. If "The Truth About Lies" is showing at a film festival near you, and you don’t see it…you will be doing yourself a huge disservice, as the short film explores the precarious balance of dark and light, love and hate, kindness and cruelty, and of course, the truth about lies!
